Courses
Power Engineering Informatics
The goal of the Power engineering informatics subjects is to give a thorough overview on information technology flow of power generation, transport, distribution, and consumption. The subject is divided into 2 semesters. In the first part we are concentrating more in the field of power consumption influence. On the second semester the students get information of the IT background of power generation and distribution. During the two semesters the following topics are discussed:
- PLC programming (ST, LD, IL, FBD, ST, CFC)
- KNX programming
- HVAC control
- Heat and Smoke ventilation control
- Fire protection (passive and active)
- Power saving possibilities
- Building communication protocols (KNX, LON, BACnet, Modbus)
- Sensors and Actuators
- Measuring systems
- Automation of power electric networks
- SCADA systems
- Dispatcher centers
- GIS systems
- TSO systems
- Accounting systems
During the laboratory practice the students can program KNX and PLC systems. In our lab we have all type of equipment for every common used application. Even more we started the accreditation process of certified KNX Training Center. The students can create applications like light control, heat control, ventilating, shading, visualizations (touch panel programming, Home server programming, etc.). They have the possibility to create these applications with both technical solutions and put their applications to the Internet, and try to develop different remote control solutions. In the end of the semester the students get a clear overview of different common used BA systems.
